The great thing about Walnut Creek is that it’s an East Bay hot spot…lots to do, lots to see and the action never tires! We have many friends who call Walnut Creek home—with its family friendly neighborhoods, great schools and wonderful downtown area, it’s easy to see why.

Walnut Creek’s downtown area has expanded, grown and changed over the years. It’s currently in transition as its shopping mecca, Broadway Plaza, undergoes a major facelift. Despite that, it’s not deterring shoppers to flock to anchor tenants Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Macy’s as this makeover takes place which should be completed in early 2015.

Shopping is a focal point for many, but that’s not all the downtown area has to offer. The plethora of wonderful restaurants and lounges makes it the perfect location for a date night, a girl’s night out or just a night out on the town. Some of my favorites dining spots include Va de Vi, Sasa and Lark Creek—with a few newcomers heading onto the scene in the coming months. The restaurants in Walnut Creek are right on-par with San Francisco and offer diners an array of choices—from small plates to Mediterranean, Mexican and sushi—there’s really something for every palette to enjoy.

Beyond the perks of downtown, Walnut Creek is situated ideally in the shadow of Mount Diablo with incredible hiking, biking and walking trails. The North Gate to the city’s East gives residents easy access to the activities on the mountain including horseback riding and camping a short distance from home. Borges Ranch is a great family excursion tucked away in the hills of Mount Diablo. Pack a picnic and enjoy the beautiful views!

Heather Farm Park, Larkey Park, San Miguel Park and Arbolado Park offer residents swim facilities, tennis courts, playgrounds and picnic areas. If you find yourself at Larkey Park, then check out the Lindsey Wildlife Museum and explore the creatures and habitats that make living in the East Bay so special. Mountain lions, rattlesnakes and spotted owls—I’ve ventured here numerous times with my boys and it’s a great place for them to learn and explore!

Now, isn’t it easy to see what makes Walnut Creek so appealing?
